SUV's & 4x4's

1981 Toyota Landcruiser diesel The 70 Series is a family of Toyota Land Cruiser models produced since 1984. It replaced the 25-year-old 40 Series as the off-road model of the Land Cruiser lineup, while the contemporary 60 Series developed into more comfortable luxury SUVs starting with the 80 Series. Despite major changes in styling and numerous technological updates, the 70 Series was designed to retain the off-road capabilities and durability associated with the 40 Series. The 70 Series is marketed throughout the world, except for countries like India, the United States, Mexico, Brazil and Korea where they were imported and put into commercial or private use.[citation needed] As a celebration of the Land Cruiser 70's 30th anniversary, Toyota temporarily marketed the Land Cruiser 70 series in the Japanese market for 12 months. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) This is a 1:18 scale very highly detailed mode of the 1981 Toyota Landcruiser diesel. One of Toyotas most famous and successful series of SUV's and 4-wheel drive vehicles. And this model is one of the most detailed that I have come across for a while. The body is excellent and with the totally impeccable paintwork, its a great start to this model. With 6 opening doors and a bonnet that opens wide, the detail is very professional. The 4 main passenger doors open wide to allow one to see that the workmanship is not only confined to the exterior, but continues also in the interior. The only fault that I have with this model is that the rear doors are suppose to open, however on this model they are stuck , and I won't force them open because I don't want to damage them in anyway. This model has been fitted with the steel wheels rather than the mag wheels I know many buyers would have added to their vehicle. With excellent attention to details like door handles, winged mirrors, the attention to detail is quite extraordinary. Interiorwise that attention to detail is continued. With the skilled use of plastics, they have made the seats so real, that you need to touch them to find out that they are plastic. Small details will also make any model special and with the attention to the facia and with the instruments in the dashboard complete with totally recognisable dials as well as small details like the rear visor mirror to the gear shift and the steering wheel that is in proportional to the scale. Full instrument panel with all the switches and knobs make up the realism of the centre dash. The engine is a delight. Its obvious that so much time and effort has gone into designing this Diesel engine with little that one could fault it. not many makers of this calliper of model can be more proud of designing such an engine. Overall, this is a model that every collector should hav in their collection. Once out of its box, the quality and workmanship that went into the model was very obvious. Even though I was not able to open the rear doors, I still without any hesitation give this model top marks. a 5.0/5.0. Robin Finlay 13/09/2022. Visit robinsmodelcarsinternetmuseum.net for more!
